In this section I'd like to present the history of the YAK 55SP model - from the moment I bought it in Germany to weighing the completed model, stage by stage, finally some reports, photos and video clips from its first flights.
Unfortunately, the engine cowling in Yak is huge and the engine - small, so to properly cool the engine, especially for 3D flying, we need to make so-called "baffle", which allows to direct the air on the cylinders, instead of on the cowling's internal surfaces. Painting it black matte makes the baffle board less visible.
The Yak model coming from this company has a pre-prepared tunnel for resonance pipes (in my opinion: 10cm too short) and to fit inside it, we need to play a lot with collectors, besides, CG is moved by this to the front, which is very useful, if we plan to fly with a light engine such as DA 150. We don't have such problem with ZDZ 210 engine.
This is how the horizontal stabilizer looks with elevators - I managed to achieve maximum pitch of all control surfaces, I'm going to get some cool 3D flying with that.
When adjusting the cockpit to the frame, the canopy usually gets scratched, so it's recommended to secure it with a tape. I glue it this way - first I grab it in three CA points and then I add silicone, the joint is strong and flexible.
The interior of the giant, awful lot of space here. Fuel tank 1200 was placed on purpose in front of the center of weight, because my flying style is classic aerobatics first and later 3D flying.
So during the first part of the flight the plane is overbalanced to the front and during the second part - to the back.
